How long does a treatment last?
Typically treatments last between half an hour to an hour.

How many treatments will I need?
This will depend on the condition being treated, its duration and on the individual patient.

Who is it suitable for?
Everyone reacts differently and for some it may not be the treatment of choice. The best advice we can give anyone is to try it and see for themselves. We see clients of all ages from 6 weeks to 90 years in our practice and most of our clients are referred by family & friends or their GP or consultant.

Is it safe?
Yes, absolutely. The needles that are used are sterile, disposable and CE approved. AcuPlus adheres to the health & safety regulations as stipulated in the Acupuncture Council of Ireland (TCMCI) Code of Ethics and SRCL Clinical Services protocol.

Are there any negative side effects?
Because acupuncture is a non-invasive treatment, there are rarely any negative side effects providing treatment is administered by a qualified professional. Occasionally treatment may result in some minor local bruising.

When should I start treatment for Assisted Fertility?
Ideally we would start acupuncture 3 or more months ahead of an IVF/IUI cycle to prepare. While this preparation is ideal, many people get in touch when they are about to start their treatment and there is still a lot acupuncture can do at this time. At this stage, acupuncture treatments will focus on assisting your medicated cycle.

Can I have acupuncture if I am pregnant?
Yes. Acupuncture can be used to treatment pregnancy symptoms such as nausea or lower back pain. Please let us know if you are pregnant before you attend.

Am I covered by my health insurance?
Please check with your health insurance provider if your plan covers acupuncture. VHI, Laya & Vivas all offer cover for acupuncture & we are registered with the Acupuncture Council of Ireland and are therefore covered by these companies.

What should I wear to my session?
Loose comfortable clothing is best.
